One that means he would never see someone important to him again. Even if the struggle was for humans to resolve in the end, Merlin thinks he might hate those things for it. Maybe, he should've did a bit more, even for it means it'd be for selfish reasons.
His mood is growing a little sour, though, so he thinks it's time for him to retreat. But, he is thankful to hear the other's opinion on the matter as well. ]
